Was involved in the expansion of my 40 year-old tech trace association from one office in Washington, DC to three offices with the add addition of bureaus in Brussels, and Geneva. Beyond the logistical and staffing work needed, I also coordinated messaging for this expansion and the added issues portfolio that came with it (antitrust, copyright, patents, privacy, internet gtovernance, taxes).
Advised Associated Press on the development of its first international television service in 1995 and the setup of AP’s domestic online video service in 2006. In both cases, I consulted with senio management on hiring needs, labor contract terms, equipment and budget.
What is the most important skill your bring to a corporate board?
During by 20 years as a national journalist for print, radio and television, I had to quickly develop expertise on a wide range of topics under short deadlines and with a critical need for accuracy. In my capacity as a Board member, I can combined by broad expertise with strong consensus-building and media skills to help my colleagues position our board well and navigate issues with confidence.
